Volunteer Opportunities
There are several ways AYM can utilize volunteers—from individuals who are interested
in making a regular commitment to groups that are interested in a one-day service
project, there is always work to be done.
Drop-In
Center
Assist staff in mentoring and supervision
of youth, share a devotion, provide refreshments, play
pool, Ping-Pong, board games or just lend a listening
ear. As you build relationships with the young people,
you earn the privilege of sharing your Christian faith
through word as well as in deed.

Adventure Challenge
Assist in mentoring and supervising of youth during the
summer in a variety of program activities focusing
on one of three areas:
- The Physical Challenge: (i.e. biking, hiking, canoeing,
camping, etc)
- The Cultural/Educational Challenge: (i.e. traveling
to museums, theaters, zoos, or other cultural organizations
in close proximity)
- The Service Challenge: (i.e. volunteering
in the Indianapolis community, being good stewards of
the Drop-In Center by helping to clean or decorate, visiting
nearby nursing homes, etc.)
Totally You (ladies) or Third Timothy (men)
Meet with a single-gender small group on a regular basis
to help them grow in all areas of their lives
spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual. These groups provide an excellent
avenue for one-on-one mentoring relationships between youth and adults.
Speakers
Educate youth on one of four subject areas either at the
Drop-In Center or through AYM's Young Champions program
in Indianapolis Public Schools.
- Substance Abuse
- Teen Sexuality
- Education
- Gangs and Violence
Office/Clerical
Assist in administrative tasks including: typing, filing,
collating, stuffing envelopes and special projects.
Maintenance
Assist in upkeep of AYM's physical property through lawn
care, landscaping, basic maintenance, etc.
Events
Assist in planning fundraising and public awareness events
for the ministry. Creativity and planning/organizational
skills a plus.
