Volunteer Requirements and Application

Individual Volunteer Application
Group Volunteer Application

Requirements

Class A Volunteers work directly with the youth on a regular basis, often in one-on-one settings. Examples include:

  • Drop-In
  • Totally You
  • Third Timothy
  • Mentors

Prospective Class-A Volunteers are expected to:

  1. Be a Christian. Have a saving knowledge of faith through Jesus Christ.
  2. Have a sense of mission and a secure feeling because you're called by the Lord.
  3. Have the ability to work well with AYM staff and other volunteers.
  4. Read all required AYM literature.
  5. Send in volunteer application.
  6. Have an informal interview with Center Director.
  7. Make at least one Drop-In visit to become familiarized with AYM's work.
  8. Be willing to have AYM personnel run a limited criminal history check.

Class B Volunteers work directly with the youth in group settings during specific events. Examples include:

  • Adventure Challenge trips
  • Field Trips
  • Speakers

Prospective Class B Volunteers are expected to:

  1. Have the ability to work well with AYM staff and other volunteers.
  2. Make at least one Drop-In visit to become familiarized with AYM's work.
  3. Have an informal conversation with Center Director.

Class C Volunteers give assistance to AYM in administrative functions. Examples include:

  • Events
  • Maintenance
  • Office/Clerical

Prospective Class C Volunteers are expected to:

  1. Have the ability to work will with AYM staff and other volunteers.
  2. Have a fundamental knowledge of AYM.
  3. Acquire specific information about a volunteer opportunity from Center Director.
